As we light all the candles on this last night of Chanukah, we remember the most wondrous moment of the miracle-when the oil had lasted a full eight days. Channukah is one of the four times during the year, along with Pride, Purim, and Yom Ha-atzma-ut, that we say an al hanisim prayer-an expression of gratitude for the triumph of the human spirit in overcoming oppression. Along with the fabulous redesign of our website, CBST will now be offering regular updates on different social justice events and topics both in CBST and beyond. We will have regular updates from Koleinu, our Congregation Based Community Organizing initiative, as well as our exciting work in building a Jewish LGBTQ movement, like Rabbi Kleinbaum and I attending the National Jewish LGBT Movement Building Convening in Berkeley a few weeks ago.
