Alana Krivo-Kaufman

Social Justice Coordinator

Contact Alana with questions about CBST's social justice work or to get involved with Koleinu.

Alana Krivo-Kaufman joins CBST with a background in community organizing and policy research addressing public health disparities and HIV, queer youth homelessness, and racial segregation and affordable housing. Alana’s Jewish migration from the Midwest has been marked by queer community building, social justice education, pluralistic communal living, and plenty of chutzpah.

Alana worked as a Jewish educator with CBST’s Limmud Mispacha program as well as at Kolot Chayeinu, a progressive congregation in Brooklyn, in their Children’s Learning Program. As the Community Organizing Coordinator and Avodahnik at Gay Men’s Health Crisis, she built political power with low income people living with HIV, mobilizing around city, state and national legislative priorities. Alana has been an active leader with Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) and the Housing Justice campaign, organizing in solidarity with low-income and community-of-color led organizations working against gentrification and displacement in New York City.

She graduated from Barnard College, where she was an Urban Studies major, co-founder of the Progressive Jewish Alliance, and co-president of Gayava: Queer Jews at Barnard/Columbia. Alana grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and has a strong affinity for cities, public education systems, and buckeyes (the kind with chocolate and peanut butter).   When she’s not at CBST, you can find her in Brooklyn cooking for a Shabbat potluck, organizing with JFREJ, drawing comics or riding her bike.
