Music at CBST
Music is an important element in our services, highlighting the beauty, drama, and profound nature of our worship.
The CBST Community Chorus, under the direction of Joyce Rosenzweig , frequently participates in our services, bringing perfect harmony and deep emotion to the proceedings. And Joyce, along with Cantorial Soloist Re'ut Ben-Ze'ev , introduces a rich variety of musical accompaniments to our prayers, carefully chosen from different historical periods and places.
The Music Program provides CBST with our annual Shabbat Shirah concert, trains ba'alei tefilah and continues to expand our experience of sophisticated Jewish music.
Join the Community Chorus!
The CBST Community Chorus, under the direction of Joyce Rosenzweig, is seeking new members. Rehearsals take place Wednesday evenings from 7-9 PM. The chorus sings at High Holy Day services, special Shabbat services throughout the year, the Shabbat Shirah concert, at nursing homes, with other synagogue choirs, and at GLBT and interfaith gatherings. We are a chevrah of CBST members with varying degrees of musical experience but with a common love for singing Jewish music. While the ability to read music is very helpful, it is not required. The main requirements are membership at CBST, the ability to match pitch and sing in tune, a pleasant voice that blends well, the commitment to learn the music, and reliable attendance at rehearsals and performances. We are a fun-loving but serious group, and we'd be thrilled to have you join us!
